About Me

I am an experienced BACP registered counsellor, working in private practice and for The Brain Tumour Charity. Having been trained integratively to draw on several different theories and approaches, my style of working is humanistic, relational and client-led. I aim to create a space where we can build a collaborative, connected therapeutic relationship that feels safe and supportive. I find it can be helpful to explore your experiences of relationships both past and present, to better understand thoughts and feelings in the here and now, and sometimes to think about coping behaviours that can help with day to day living.

I regularly work with clients who come to see me about depression, relational issues, anxiety and self esteem difficulties. I also often support clients struggling with grief and loss, including bereavement by suicide, perinatal loss, delayed grief and anticipatory loss, and I am very interested in working with bereaved couples who would like support together, rather than individually.

My specific interest in working with grief and loss began when I worked with patients and family members as a bereavement and end of life hospice counsellor. That work had a considerable impact on my practice, and grief and loss continues to be an area of specialism I am particularly interested, trained and experienced in.

I have volunteered as a counsellor and a counselling assessor in a variety of different places including at a local college, for a helpline, a charity and to support NHS frontline workers.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to their Ethical Framework and professional standards. I am committed to providing the best service I can to all of my clients and am supported by regular supervision to ensure my practice is safe and current. I am fully insured for professional practice, ICO registered and a member of the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online (ACTO).

My Own Journey

Before training to become a counsellor I spent many years working in both state and independent education, in HR administration and training. Over time I realised that my relationships with people, both staff and students, were far more important to me than working with statistics and spreadsheets and that I wanted to re-train for a career I had been interested in for a long time. I love what I do and it is a privilege to sit alongside each of my clients and be part of their story, whether only briefly or over a longer period of time.
